Our mission is raise awareness to indie artists about gaining revenue directly from their fanbase. We've been exposing the music industry on our Instagram account, and we want to change the way artist make money. Due to the advancement of social media, information, and marketing techniques, artist can make revenue directly from their fanbase via their website.
Traditionally, music artists had less options to make a living off of their music. Artists made bad deals in the past. We have countless examples of famous artists leaving the industry with nothing to show for it. Meanwhile the major record labels were making billionaires of dollars from owning their masters and intellectual property. This must change and we must start now.
NewFans decided to help close the gap between signed artists and independent artists. Music artists like Master P, Nipsey Hussle, Ryan Leslie, Russ etc proved that artists can make a living directly from their fanbase. We use existing models combined with digital marketing tactics to deliver real fans to independent artists.
We are launching an initiative called Normalize Artists Making Money Directly From Fans to raise awareness to independent artists. We understand that not everyone are meant be entrepreneurs and a significant amount of artists are still willing to sign their rights away for a check. For the artists who want to build a genuine fanbase and want to make money as an entrepreneur, NewFans want to reach out to show that it could be done.
We helped an independent artist named Roci Masa go from 0 to 100 new fans. We paid over $2,500 of our own money because we believe in this mission. As we continue to grow, we want to donate more money to continue this mission. We strive to normalize artists making money directly from their fans. If this happens, less artists will fall victim to signing their intellectual rights away to major record labels.

Born in Dallas, Texas, raised in Irving and Arlington. Yung Boss Crook, known to his closest friends and family simply as “Crook,” was raised by his mother as an only child. He learned valuable lessons about being a man through sports and running the streets of the Dallas/Ft. Worth metroplex. You could say Crook gets his love of music from his mother, who often brought him along to her frequent choir rehearsals at church. Eventually, she found a way to get Crook involved with the youth choir as well. As a youngster, Crook even performed with the late Christian artist Carmelo “Carmen” Licciardello. To say the least, Crook is no stranger to the spotlight.
Growing up, Crook chose sports throughout junior high and high school, all the while continuing to write lyrics to beats he would burn onto CDs. He never really stopped making music. Crook says, “I’m a product of hard work and repetition. I feel like I’ve already been doing this a lifetime.” Throughout college, Crook would often skip classes, tests, and other events on campus, choosing to practice his craft instead. He turned his dorm room into a recording studio and formed a group known as “Yung Men Of Bidnizz,” consisting of artists such as LB111 and DontreezyMusic, all while earning a B.A. in psychology.
Crook draws inspiration from artists and groups such as Big K.R.I.T., J. Cole, Devin the Dude, Z-Ro, UGK, Outkast, SUC, DSR, Rap-A-Lot Records, Nipsey Hustle, T.I., Erykah Badu, Webbie, Twisted Black, Tupac, and many more. He has opened for Z-Ro & Lil Flip, been featured on “Coast to Coast” mixtapes and internet radio. A big supporter of his home state, Crook honors the artists who paved the way for him.
Crook is a Swiss army knife with a Midas touch; he does it all. Mixing, producing, writing, promotion, marketing, graphic design, artist management, and now as an A&R Manager, he’s involved in discovering and nurturing new talent. As Crook would say, he has the juice, and he has no problem letting you know.
